RT520 Series models explained


RT520/RT520TX/RT520RF - These are the RT520 series devices. The RT520 series is a programmable thermostat similar to the RT510 series but with additional landlord settings and a PIN lock feature for restricting access to certain settings.

Model numbers explained:

RT520 - Hard-wired programmable thermostat with landlord settings, wired directly to a boiler or other HVAC system, no wireless support, no internet support. The RT520 cannot be paired to any wireless device or gateway.

RT520TX - Wireless programmable thermostat with landlord settings, needs to be paired to one of the following to work: a receiver (RXRT520, RXRT510, or SSR868), a smart relay (SR868), or a smart plug (SPE868). No internet support.

WBRT520TX - This is the same thermostat as the RT520TX but sold in white box packaging. All RT520TX specifications, settings, pairing, and troubleshooting apply identically.

RT520RF - A full kit of thermostat (RT520TX) + receiver (RXRT520), no internet support. The thermostat unit in the RT520RF kit is the RT520TX. All RT520TX specifications, settings, and troubleshooting apply.

The RT520TX can be paired to the following devices only and is not compatible with any other device: RXRT520 (receiver), RXRT510 (receiver), SR868 (smart relay), SPE868 (smart plug EU), SSR868 (super slim receiver). Please follow each device's pairing instructions on how to put them in pairing mode.

The RT520TX may also work with older plug-in receivers (RXWBC605, RXBC605, LG+5V) but these are discontinued and compatibility is not guaranteed across all firmware versions.

The RT520 series does not support internet control. There is no gateway-compatible variant. The RT520TX cannot be paired to any gateway (iTG310, iTG500, UGE600 or UG800). For internet control, you need to replace your system with the iT700 or iT800 kit.

The RT520TX thermostat works with the legacy 868 MHz protocol only, meaning it works only with the legacy smart plug (SPE868) and smart relay (SR868) but does not work with the smart home range smart relay (SR600) and smart plug (SP600) that use the iT600 protocol.
